ManagementPlus Contributes $140,000 in EHR Software to the People's Health Clinic in Park City
- Advanced Electronic Health Record technology helps non-profit clinic provide care touninsured
individuals in
Utah’s Summit and Wasatch Counties -
SALT LAKE CITY—Dec. 28, 2011 —More than 9,000 office visits to the People’s Health Clinic in Park City, Utah, in 2012 will use the latest in Electronic Health Record(EHR) technology, thanks to a holiday donation of $140,000 in practice management software from ManagementPlus. ManagementPlus EHR 5.0 software will now assist the clinic’s staff and volunteer doctors in providing care to uninsured patients in Utah’s Summit and Wasatch counties.
Under the direction of Executive Director Nann Worel, The People’s Health Clinic will use the software to further ensure accurate and excellent care thanks to the alerts and reminders the software provides during each patient contact. The increased ability to gather and submit summary information on patients will make it easier for PHC to apply for and receive additional grant funding in future seasons as well. That funding is critical, as the clinic’s traffic is steadily increasing due to rising unemployment and skyrocketing insurance costs, according to Worel. The clinic’s traffic increased from 700 visits in 2007 to more than 7,000 visits in 2010.
Dr. John Hanrahan, PHC founder and one of the two staff doctors said, “We are seeing more and more people each year who've lost their health insurance or are unable to get insurance due to being seasonal or temporary workers or working multiple part time jobs. The complexity of care is also increasing. The software will be especially beneficial for ensuring continuity of care whenmultiple volunteer and staff work with our patients. This is a huge issue, and one of the biggest benefits the EHR system provides. ManagementPlus is perfect for meeting this kind of need.”
“ManagementPlus is not only contributing our software, but is working with us to tailor the software to meet our specific needs,” Worel said. “We could not be more thrilled to receive this gift, particularly as our clinic is highly reliant on grant funding.”
“I am pleased to join with all of our employees to help this tremendous clinic provide excellent care for the growing base of individuals in need in these two counties,” said Christine Archibald, ManagementPlus founder and CEO.

MPlus CEO Travels to Nepal with Himalayan Cataract Project
In October of 2010, Christine M. Archibald, CEO of ManagementPlus traveled with Geoff Tabin, MD and Alan Crandall, MD to the Himalayan region of Nepal to perform eye surgery for Nepali citizens in support of the initiatives of the Himalayan Cataract Project. Nine hundred patients were screened for eye problems and 130 eye surgeries performed, mostly cataract extractions. Cataracts are the leading source of blindness in the developing world. Dr Tabin and Dr Crandall both have spent a significant portion of their lives dedicated to reducing blindness in the areas of the world affected by cataracts.
In Phaphlu, Nepal 67 patients were being checked for the first time post operatively by Dr Tabin and Dr Crandall. The patients and their families were so grateful for the work which was accomplished by these very skilled surgeons.
"It was amazing to see all the patients lined up," Christine stated, 'they were so happy when they once again had their site returned to them. One patient was carried on her grandson's backs through the Himalayan Mountains for three days. She had been blind for 12 years due to cataracts, and we all waited with great anticipation as the doctors removed her eye patch and witnessed her reaction during the post operative check. It was truly amazing!"
ManagementPlus was proud to be a part of the endeavor and we encourage all our partners and clients to visit the links below for more indepth coverage.
